PIPE TYPES

These test criteria are for fittings connecting to the following Polyethylene pipes:

  • USA Polyethylene Pipe manufactured to ASTM specifications D2239-99

  • Canadian Polyethylene Pipe manufactured to CSA Standard B137.1-99

TEST CRITERIA

Hydrostatic Pressure Test:
Standard:  None Available
Principle:  Checking the leakproofness of joints of an assembly.
Test Temperature: 20 ± 2 °C
Test Pressures and Duration:   3.2 x Working Pressure of Pipe for 1 minute
                                                  2.5 x Working Pressure of Pipe for 1 hour
                                                  2.1 x Working Pressure of Pipe for 1000 hours

Note that the Hydrostatic Pressure Test of Fittings in CSA Standard B137.0-99, clause 6.6.6 are exceeded by the above Hydrostatic Pressure Test

Pull-out Test:
Standard: ISO 3501-1976
Principle: Checking of the ability of an assembled joint to resist pulling out when subjected to longitudinal tension.
Test Temperature:  20 ± 2 °C
Test force: As per formula in ISO 3501 – 1976 
Test duration: 1 hour

Certification:
Certification has been granted as follows:
TOXICITY: NSF 61 for Potable water
